The suggestion we offer most often to folks in your position is to look into the EliteT series. They are the least expensive, USA built models and in the opinion of many here, offer the most bang for the buck. Most important is that the EliteT offers a solid top rather than the multi-layered top on the Korean built Celebrity. And Ray... In May there is an annual factory tour. Some of us travel many miles and many hours to be there. I bet it might be just a short drive for you.

The "GC" means that it was made for Guitar Center, (or at least that is my understanding). As always, correct my if I'm wrong, which happens often. (Hey! I resemble that "Low-End" remark!) Oh, and if you are shopping for a GC057 online; everyone sez that it is a mid-bowl, It is NOT. It is a super-shallow bowl. FYI addendum- My GC057 was made in China

Interestingly enough I've been looking online at a CC24 at Guitar Center and the GC057 is at Musicians Friend. ... though I've heard they're owned by the same parent company (?). I've found one offical PDF ovation document from Musicians Friend that lists the GC057 as the super-shallow bowl.... is the CC24 also super shallow or is it mid-sized? Is it purely personal preference on the bowl depth? YES, I'm very interested in taking a factory tour, I've been in CT for 25 years now, ... New Hartford (?) for the Ovation factory? Just a about an hour from me. ... How is the date listed?

I don't know how your are going to use it, but the shallow bowl is not well known for it's unplugged sound. Especially one with a non-solid top. Play as many different models as you can AND have someone play them for you. You can get a better idea of the performace when you are in front of an Ovation.

If I wanted to be a street musician, I would have to bring my AC/DC amp outside. Gee Mark, I wish I had known that when I got mine! Really! I ordered it cuz it was listed as Mid-Depth... By just about everybody too, not just the folks I bought it from. But once I got it, I saw it was SSB. I liked it. And it was an OK deal. By the time I sent it back, I woulda paid $70 in shipping, so I just kept it. And I do Like it. Like I've said; My next O will be deeper. USO too!

Looking forward to exploring this site and doing lots of reading. Happy Holiday to all -Ray

For the small change in size, I'd go with the deep every time. The change in size between a mid and a supershallow is much more significant.

Its for my son, he'll love it alot and take nice care of it. Later on down the road I'd like to get the similar model with solid spruce top, etc. (Elite?) for MYSELF!! - untill then I'll just borrow my sons! -ray
