Obviously, there is a big visual differenc between these 2 tops. The CVT looks like it's made from a cross woven fiber. But a friend told me the CVT stood for curved top. Do the CVT tops have an arch to them or are they flat tops like the SMTs? Is there any kind of appreciable acoustic difference?

Jim...I need a good blues name don't I?

The difference is in the lay of the fiber... both guitars are flat tops...

I had a SMT a number of years ago... I sold it for a 1537...
