I was watching season one of Red Dwarf on dvd and noticed a familiar headstock and roundback style guitar. However, it doesn't have an Ovation logo on the headstock. It looks more like a zero or letter "O" with the line through it. It's a bright blue color, must like the lighter of the blue on a blue-burst. Wondered if anyone else noticed this and knew what knockoff it was, or was it actually an Ovation that they changed the logo for SciFi Integrity :)

It was a "Smeghead" model I believe!

I haven't watched Red Dwarf in a while. Is it too late to put the boxed set on my Christmas list?

If my memory serves me, I think the O with the line through it was the symbol for Red Dwarf, like a representation of Saturn. I was convinced back then that it was a 'proper' Ovation. No reason to assume otherwise.

Lister was a cool dude. It was his guitar, so I figure it was a real 'O'.

If it was Rimmer's, it would've been an Applause copy.

I thought I'd be able to google a picture, but this is the only one I could find. And it's definitely not an O.

That picture is from a later series. The O (and I think it was an O) only ever appeared in series I and II.

The O was painted grey, to fit in with the rest of the grey set styling. Don't think that it was an official colour from a factory though. A guide is that if Rimmer is wearing a khaki uniform it's series I or II, anything else it's a later one.

Found this:- Set Pic

Probably not too late to order the DVD...

Apologies - you've just uncovered my other anorak in Red Dwarf...

I'm pretty sure it's a Clarissa, 80's Italian knock-off.

In Jersey, an "Italian knock-off" is something altogether different . . .
