I wasn't sure where to post this - under the "Who's Getting a Guitar... " thread or the "Buyers Remorse" thread.

To make a long story short, after I blew getting the Legend, I went to plan B and it looks like I will be getting a 2005 Collectors for Christmas. Can't wait to tell the wife she's getting it for me!

I was able to negotiate a lower price than the opening bid on this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ovation-2005-Collectors-Edition-Acoustic-Electr...

It is in driving distance so I could see it as early as tomorrow. Feels like Christmas in the air already!

Not a bad 400th post either... :D

Very nice!

When you go to pick up the guitar, show the seller how the back of the bowl is pushed in. Maybe you can get a little more knocked off the price to cover a tank of gas.

The eagle has landed and she's everything I hoped she would be. I can't post pictures for fear of incurring the wrath of the gift giver. I did manage to sneak a few minutes alone with her though...

Dave - you are so right about the glossed neck... it is unbelievably fun to play. The action is nice and low. It has a very full sound unplugged - haven't plugged it in yet. I also love the contour bowl - fits like a glove (is that a good thing?).

I wasn't too thrilled with swoosh when I first saw it on the 2080 - but I do like it with the center soundhole. Serial # in the 200's (I forget exactly what it is).

I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with her next week and relegating the celebrities to the basement (or out on ebay or craigslist...unless someone here is interested).

I'll post the pics and add a little more detail next week.
