I have a 1979 1657-7 Anniversay Legend that I bought around 1985 from Guitar Center for $300. I have been playing for 40 years and it is by far the nicest guitar I have played. My wife wanted to buy me a Taylor a few months ago, so I test drove a few of them at a local guitar shop here in San Diego. None of the ones I played made me want to give up my Ovation. (I'll still let her buy me a Taylor if she insists. :) ) Happy holidays all!

Most of the vintage guitars listed were my everyday players at one time or another during my youth, except for the Teisco which I got at a swap meet back in the 90's for $40, and the Kay which was rescued from a dumpster in El Centro, CA about 20 years ago. Cheers!

I don't want to know where he got it... It has a remarkably good full sound. The playabilty is eecchh! and it feels like it will fall apart at any time. Never tried a solid body O. Am I missing out?
