Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | I am going to remove a non-original preamp and volume knob from my Glen Campbell six-string acoustic and need to know how to patch the remaining hole in the bowl. Anyone ever done this? Are the 'shiny bowl' guitars actually laquered?

Location: SoCal | You know Wayne, that may be one of those things, because of the rarity of the guitar, that you might want Ovation to do. |

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | I would, but the risks of shiping outweigh the risks of a local repair job. Plus the cross-border hassles, duty, etc.

To patch the hole use a fiberglass patch, go to a boat place and ask there. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I assume the hole you are talking about is a screw-hole size. If it were me, I would not try to patch it - you'll never get it to match. At any HW store you can buy small nylon screw caps which would cover the hole from the outside. I would affix it from the inside using a dab of superglue. Other options:
1. use one of the small rubber plugs from the elite soundhole rubber dampener things (what ever they're called).
2. just slap an Ovation flower sticker over it
3. use the hole as a cigarette holder

Location: Scotland | I did a similar repair by supergluing a piece of plastic inside the bowl & filling with modeller's putty, which can be bought from hobby shops. I sanded the hardened putty flat & painted it with matt black enamel paint. You have to look real hard to see it.

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | Thanks for all the tips, guys...except for using the hole as a cigarette holder...guitars are addictive enough without adding tobbaco products!
Besides, what would the difference in density between the fiberglass and the cigarette filter do to the sound??
