Mine have either the "bumpy" finish... (that's not satin is it??) or a regular burst or black. I have a blue breadwinner too..

CWK2,
I have seen or heard how these guitars came about elsewhere on the net. Basically someones idea to try and pump the last breath in the Deacon line. What really was the story on these guitars? I'm just polishing one of mine up for eBay and got to wondering. I noticed there is even an "upgrade" of small set-screws on the bottoms of the saddles to keep them from lifting or wiggling like could happen on early versions of that bridge. Active electronics, pearl-like tuners. All in all, a nice guitar.

It wasn't to pump the last breath, it was to use up the last of the parts inventory which was considerable $$$$ Not all of the parts were old so some new stuff was used, like the newer bridges.

I was actually more curious about the extra sculpting. Who's idea, or was it just one of those... "ffffffffpt, hey mon, lets try like cut'n some of the top off... yeah make it look more like a babe mon... ahhhhhhhhhh"

I put the extra cut on it and then blended it in. Tried to make it like more of a guitar, it was different enough from the others and still used up the same aomunt of parts so it was a go.

It was all coping saw logic, wasn't that a steely dan tune once??
