Location: CT | Well, if only to offset my habitual whining, I should take a few minutes to finish this story. It actually has a happy ending!
I was surprised to learn that Ovation did have necks for this model in stock, and moreover, they just happened to have one in excellent condition, returned that same week by a customer who wanted a brand new one. The odds of this are amazing, and the bottom line is I didn't have to pay retail for the part.
The folks at Ovation (Kevin, Kim, et al) did an amazing job, and it looks like I'll be able to travel with this guitar next month as planned.
