Location: Pennsylvania | After I mute the strings or after I let up on a chord, theres a brief ringing. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and want to get rid of it. Is it some metal part ringing inside? Anyone else experience anything like this?

Location: Pennsylvania | HA! I've pinpointed it! The ring is caused by the strings behind the nut! Any suggestions on what I can use to dampen them? I'm sure I can make something to remedy it, but still, I'll check with y'all.
Cant believe that was what was ringing--it travelled all the way down the neck and resonated like it was coming from inside the guitar! Quite a nasty ring, too! Geez!

Location: Scotland | I find it a little worrying that a new guitar needs DIY treatment to make it work properly, the head pitch on current Ovations is sufficient to stop the problems you describe. I may be teaching my grandmother to suck eggs here, but have you changed the strings? If so make sure you have at least 2 or 3 wraps around the machine-head post, wrapping downwards, making sure that the strings pull down enough over the nut to stop any unwanted resonance from behind the nut.

Location: Pennsylvania | Yeah, it's been a little discouraging having buzzes, rattles, a bad sounding b string, and ringing from behind the nut among other things. The strings are wrapped neatly and evenly downwards at least 3 times around each peg--sometimes up to 5 or so times for the thin high strings. The strings are pulled down over the nut as much as possible. Man, it's been a heck of a time with this guitar! |

Location: Pennsylvania | I used somebody's idea of matchbooks for shimming, and temporaily fixed the regular string buzz from low action (I'm going to get it professionally fixed saturday), but it didn't fix that "buzzing from the saddle" and the b string still sounds bad. It's the exact reccomended phosphor bronze strings I have on them, but I'll look into changing if it still buzzes after saturday.
(I dont want anyone to get me wrong on this--the guitar sounds great, but when I play like I do and pick a single note, etc it conduces that buzzing.) |
