Location: Morrilton, Arkansas | i'm trying to find information on my ovation guitar. I bought it used in 1975...model #1121-4...serial #8250. what is the original list price? i paid $360 for it and the case. what year was it made? how many were made? what kind of wood was used on this model? any information would be great! |

Location: Scotland | This is an Artist model. Basically a shallow bowl Balladeer, or a Glen Campbell with simpler decoration. Spruce top, VT6 bracing, 5-piece mahogany & maple neck, ebony 'board, walnut bridge. There were in the line from about '68 to maybe '83, so they're quite common. From the serial No. yours appears to be 69-70. I have a '73 price list showing $320. Nice guitars, a tidy acoustic-only example with a case would probably fetch $300-400

Have you memorized an encyclopedia? I've never seen anybody with with so much useful information about a subject. Ovation should make you an international rep and register you as a national treasure. Your answers always seem technically correct, and if the factory reads this board, I suggest that you (the factory) give Paul some credit for his knowledge of your product. The board is creeping up on 500 members and he is one of the reasons why.

Like you, I also tend to corrode strings rather quickly. I know there are other products out there that do the same thing, but like lots of other advice found on this website, this has proven to be another winner! |

Don't be too disappointed at what seems like a low price for a super excellent guitar, one of the most posted opinions on this board is amazement at how underpriced Ovation instruments are. I'll hazard an opinion that one of the purposes of the board is to rectify that situation by pointing out what a good value they are. You will note if you read some of the back postings, that many of us have said, as you did, that we won't part with them at many times their so called monetary value. The bright side is we can accumulate more of them at ridiculously low prices. That may not last forever.

I looked at new acoustic guitars a few year back and did'nt find nothing under $800 that even come close to quality of my 1121-4 ovation so i went electric and got a 40th anniversary fender stratocaster. |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | Right on, if you check the board often you will find that these guys will point out super deals on ebay and other sources. You can buy a used US made Ovation for half of what a new offshore name brand would cost.
