Hey all, it's been a while. I am happy to say that my pawnshop Legend and I performed for about 450 people a couple weekends ago. It was a church crowd, so they was easy on me. Wrote and played a Norseman orginal. Could have used my e-bay Balladeer that has the electronics, but I wrote the song on the Legend, and I love playin it!

My days of playing the local bar scene are past me now. Coffee house, small groups, and church appeal to me more in my old age (but not as old as Al!).

Anyways, I have been working at getting started playing all over again, and wanted to update those of you who have been an encouragement and help, as to my progress. Now, if I could only play Croce,Taylor,Stevens,Chapin in church. I guess James T. has put out some Christian music, perhaps the local mosque will let me play some C. Stevens (I think I'll pass on that one). Anyway, I think I'll stick with writing my own for now.

I've also incorporated native american flute into my songs as well!

Bye for now,

Norse(does Ovation have a roundback flute?!)man

great to hear you are back playing.

My life took a bad detour a bunch of years ago (near fatal illness for my wife and health problems and career change for me) and playing live did not make the list of priorities. About 3 years ago I walked into a coffeehouse to see blues player that I sorta knew via the internet. He asked me to join him for a few tunes. Well I did and he would not let me get off the stage and I well did not really force him to either. From that point I have sat in with him many times probably once a month or so, got my old band back together minus the horn player that had "issues" and played a few gigs did some studio recording and realize that although selling instruments is cool it does not make up for the rush I get playing the instruments and that is what I was most likely meant to do. It does not matter if I am sitting on my back deck or at a paying gig. Playing and making music is what is is all about.

Amen Al. Life without making music would be empty indeed.

Norsey, good to see you're back. You've been missed.

Sounds like fun, but beware, a little applause will hook you more than any vice. But you won't wake up with a hangover, or in strange surroundings and you know you played good. It's hard to find anything more satisfying than a good performance and I have found it better without any crutches. Of course, I admit to even being older than Al.

Glad to see your making good use of your investments, keep it up.

Thanks Bailey,

When someone tells me that a song I played really touched them, or ministered to them in someway, it gives meaning to my music, gives meaning to my investment, gives meaning to my life.

p.s. My classroom sounds like an orchestra during breaktimes! We now have guitars, native american flutes, and whatever instrument I happen to bring in on occasion. It's great watching their faces light up when they learn a note or two, a bass run, or make a harmonic sound of any kind.

Music is certainly one of the few remaining universal languages that can still unite the masses.
