I have three Ovations; my father's A-975 Deluxe Balladeer (mid-1968 I believe), a 1988-P, 1988 Collector's Series #1593, and a Super shallow, cut-a-way, 12 string Custom Legend that I had made for me by Ovation back in 1990. My father was a long time Ovation player and an avid singer. He had been killed in a car crash in 1987 and I wanted to use some of the money from his death benefit to get something special to commemorate him and I thought what better than an Ovation. At the time (in fact, I still don't think they make them), Ovation only made the Custom Legend 12 strings in full body, deep bowl models. I wrote to Kaman requesting the possibility of getting a 12-string super-shallow cut-a-way made for me, the price, and turn-around time. Bill Kaman himself promptly replied and gave me the specifics. I wrote him back and said I wanted the guitar built. He wrote back, said the work would begin immediately on my guitar and gave an approximate delivery date to my local dealer and an estimated price.I did not even have to send in a deposit! The guitar was delivered ahead of schedule and less money than originally quoted. I've won a lot of bets for guitar strings from dealers when I tell them that I have this one-of-a-kind Ovation and they say they don't make them. I love each of my Ovations and I must say the old one plays just as nice if not better than the newer ones. Anyway, sorry to ramble, I just thought you might like to hear my story of how Ovation did me a great service and how wonderful I feel these guitars are.

I'm gonna make an effort to break out my guitars more often, I've been slacking in not playing as much as I'd like. To CWK-II (thanks again by the way, I wish my Dad could have seen and played the 12 string, he'd have loved it)and ALPEP, I think I'll leave the signature on the label just the same, HAH HAH. As an aside, thanks for the info you sent to me Oldan. Thanks again to all who replied for the warm welcome, Michael
