Specifically, I'm thinking of the Pro Studio, though I may see if they can retrofit to the iDea instead and just swap for the Studio I have now when I do stage work. I may just see if I can upgrade to an Optima, though I don't know if Ovation's got any on hand still...may have to scrounge.

The problem with going from an OP24 to an OPPro-type config is that they are designed to occupy different areas of the waist, leaving you with a gap. My 1581 has the Optima, and it sounds great.

I thought it would be interesting to see if they could do a kidney-can upgrade, but you're right, it is in a different area, so I guess that might be tough.

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 2487 | I have upgraded my 1587 to the op24+ it is not the newest but it is an improvement over the op 24. That change is a relatively easy do it yourself job with just some very minor mods. There may be an even newer electronics package that has the flat rectangle shape as well. The Op24 + with the Shape button is great for the modern sound and not too expensive anymore. Ask some of the guy's in here, they may have one around to sell. Randy

My guitar, however, manifests glitches now: there is a buzz and a problem with the battery light. I suspect these are idiosyncratic to my particular gitar and NOT a sign of general incompatibility... After all it's the same preamp "cavity" (with the one exception of the 1769's "booster button") BOTTOM LINE: the OP Studio is much better (than OP Pro; never had an Optima....)
