I keep harping on this, I know, but has anybody had the opportunity to see or play the new Folklore???

Does anybody have any knowledge of how they are doing?

I just got the latest issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine and it reviewed the new products from the July NAMM show. There was a picture of the new Elite T and a mention of the Folklore. I would think that the Folklore would have had the picture as it is a guitar that could take Ovation back to acoustic respectibility.

Anyway, if people in Conn. are reading this board, I'd love to know what the resonse is. I haven't seen on in southern California and suspect that I won't.

As I understood it, only a few were made. It sounded great, if it's the one I am thinking of although hard to tell on the noisey NAMM floor. Al might have a little more input.

Paul, i have not played one yet but have spoken to two people who have played it and both said its a descent guitar. No great suprise ,no exceptional tone..Pretty much on par with a newer Ovation on sound.....I got the impression that they were not blown away with it nor totally dissapointed...In the end they liked it but not overwelmed by it....

Thanks Sam. That guitar should have had a graphite top with Adamas soundholes. Go after the old Adamas slothead sound. Then they'd have a guitar to charge $2K for.

Paul, I just think the luthiers at Ovation are just too out of touch with what kind of products they should be making or just too plain lazy. And I did not have a margarita tonight!

I'd love a 6-steel-string Folklore, full-body (no cutaway!!) with either the Adamas epaulets on both sides or the rosette sound hole and the old Adamas slotted headstock, either acoustic-only or acoustic-electric. Now that'd be the dream guitar I would be happy to take out a second mortgage for.

Failing that, I'll spring for the Ovation EA Viper or even a Fender Stratocaster.

I played it and it had a nice feel but the namm show is not a condition to evaluate the sound of an acoustic guitar.

Note to Ovation:

A small, isolation room in your booth would be a good idea.

Cliff, not to worry. The value of our early slot head adamas' will only go up and it will make no difference whether ovation makes a few more now. After all there are only 36 original slot heads with the serial number 27-62 and built in 1976....So, i dont mind if they reissue them..In fact i would not be suprised to see the original adamas models back in production.Maybe not with the slothead but with the carved headstock and bridge, original graphite tops,etc....

None of this would effect the value of ours.In fact it would probably help ....
