I'm thinking about purchasing a bass, I like the idea of going the acoustic route. Primary use at home. What are the drawbacks of going the acoustic/electric route?

An Ovation bass is the sweetest sounding bass you wiil ever hear. I have wanted one for ten years, but they are to expensive, and I work there. I should just build my own!
they are the best,as long as you dont want to play slap bass to much.
