Subject: Question on an Ovation Celebrity CC157

I recently bought a used Ovation Celebrity Model CC157. All I could find on the website was the production date( 1985-86). It seems that the previous owner sanded down the saddle but the strings don't have enough of an angle now and the sound isn't as good as it should be. This model comes with a 3 band EQ so I was wondering if the nut could be replaced without damageing the pickup or the pickup transducers. I have changed saddles on other acoustics but am just not sure if wires were attached to the actual saddle.
Any help would be appreciated.
