Beatiful guitar, way over priced.

George, don't even think about it.

While I am inclined to agree that the price is a bit up there, don't you think that it should be in that range if not higher? Especially considering what this guitar is and all that. I doubt he'll get any bids and it goes back to Al's original point in the opening page of this site, Ovations don't get the respect they deserve.

I agree the price is a bit high. I know two of these that are or were available for substantially less the last I checked.
Buy the way; guitar shown in the photos is not the actual guitar this guy is selling. I know because I own the actual guitar in the photos.
Be careful out there!

I thought the "book" guitar differed from the other 30th Anniversarys in some way.

Bills right, the 96 collectors (1996TPB) is the 30 Anniversary guitar. It’s a medium depth bowel with pearl binding including fret board. The center neck lamination and headstock overlay are rose wood tinted to match the top. The electronics are HexFx. To date this is most expensive retail priced collectors guitar Ovation has made. Last year you could find this guitar for about $500 in mint condition and for that price it’s a steel. I mention this because I see one on ebay with a couple of hours to go and I don’t need two of them.

IMHO the strength of the new product is measured on the resale value of the old. I will always maintain that. Those that wish for reissues have to look at the current resale value of the original guitar. some companies can reissue guitars and sell them at high prices because the originals are very valuable.

If you look at that guitar and the workmanship the inlay etc it is well worth every penny of the reserve price

I still say that buying to collect for profit is a foolish enterprise. Buy to play and enjoy, and you might luck out. Prices on these Ovation guitars are low IMHO, and with a little shopping some great guitars can be had. Hoping to snare the one off that will make a fortune is a risky enterprise, fortunes were made in art by people who loved the art while the artist was starving and unknown. Most instruments derive their value from what well known artist played them and often the artists were playing what was good quality at the time with no idea of creating a collector's item, similar to what knowledgable art buyers did. Some sellers seem to be trying to claim qualities that, thank goodness, people on this board can verify or not.

George, if you gotta spend on another guitar (I can just see your wife rolling eyes at the thought of that!), spend it on this
