hey everyone! glad to see so many ovation fans! anyway i had a question. what type of strings do u guys generally use for the best sound, feel, and longevity? i typically use elixer's however they are sometimes pricy (even though they last long) but i was looking for maybe a competitive set of strings at a lower price. any suggestions?

p.s if anyone of u watches survivor i THINK brian brought one. im not sure there.

If you use the "search" function using "strings" as a topic, you'll find more suggestions/opinions than you'd care to hear.

For the most part, it's all the "ice cream" analogy - whatever is YOUR particular favorite.

My favorite "flavor" happens to be D'Addario Phosphor Bronze.

Welcome!

I used to bounce back and forth between D'Addario's and Adamas medium gauge phospher bronze, but now it's all Elixar. The cost twice as much but last three times as long.

I'll agree with Cliff. I had never tried the D'Addario Phosphor Bronze strings (light gauge) until they came on my new Ovation. They are the brightest srings I have ever heard. They seem to last a long while as well. I do think they are rather pricy ($11.99) but they are worth it.

Mike;

Lemme get this straight:

You're paying TWELVE BUCKS for these things!?!?!?

I use the exact same ones and I'm paying 7 and change! And I'm buying 'em at either local shops or Guitar Center!

I'd shop around, cause you should DEFINITELY be able to get them cheaper than THAT!

Again, do a "search", cause there were a lot of posts with suggestions for online sources with really good prices.

(I usually buy them at the shops just so that I have an excuse to stop in and look around.)

I've got two sets of strings that I don't need, both phosphor bronze, both medium gauge. One's D'Addario, one's Adamas.
Anybody wnat them, cost of shipping only.

Moody Pi,

I would Love to put your strings to good use!

How much do you think shipping would be to Brainerd, Minnesota?

I would be willing to give you something for the strings beyond the shipping cost Paul.

My email address is in my profile. Send me your mailing address and I'll shoot out the strings. Don't worry about the cost. This will help my overall karma balance a bit.

Well if that's the case, you can REALLY help your overall karma by shooting out that lovely blue Adamas 12-string to me.

(hey, it was worth a shot.)

Hey Paul,

Thanks for your generosity. I will e-mail you later today or tomorrow, as I can't access, or send e-mail on the computer I am currently posting from.

Thanks again, and I'll be in touch.

I never had a fancy for D'addarios even though I use them quite often. For my Ovation, I often use John Pearse Bluegrass. However, I use La Bellas on my Steinberger and they're amazing. Has anyone tried the accoustic La Bella strings?

Does anyone know who makes the Adamas strings for Kaman.

Is it D'Addario?

The reason I ask is that my new Ovation was shipped with what appear to be D'Addario's. (Has the different coloured ends)

I thought Ovation would fit their own strings.

Personally I use Martin SP strings.
