Hello everyone. On page 117 of Walther Carter's The History of the Ovation Guitar book, is a picture of Boston's Tom Scholz playing a beautiful Ovation doubleneck Preacher. Does anyone know what became of that guitar. Does Tom still own it? And does anyone know how many doubleneck solidbody guitars Ovation made? Thanks....Paul Hebert

As far as we know, that's the only one that came out of the factory, although a couple of others have been made by luthiers. The whereabouts of Tom's is unknown as far as I can tell.

I found it :)

Check the photo in the members gallery. :)

Appearently on the last tour (circa '97) Tom decided that he really couldn't use it anymore because of it's weight and some back trouble. He traded it for some extra Rockman gear that he was looking for.

It looks like it's stenciled on or something.. There is also not a signature on the guitar, which was done after this picture.

It almost looks like Scholz might've autographed it with some type of "paint marker" and it started to wear away (it looks deteriorated right in the location where a nice, sweaty forearm might've come in contact w/it). It probably got so obliterated that someone just removed it altogether (hence it's gone in a later photo).
