Reading about the various damages to guitars got me thinking about insurance. Does anybody out there have insurance on their guitar(s). Do you think it's a good/bad idea? What kind of insurance is available?

It may be different in the US but over here in the UK if you need to insure instruments & equipment you need to go to a specialist if it's going to mean anything. I have a new for old policy which covers my gear at home & on the road and provides public liability insurance. It's not cheap but it costs less than my car insurance. The people I deal with insure musicians & nothing else. There isn't a policy that will cover wear & tear such as top cracks caused by environmental conditions.
