I sent an e-mail to Ovation over the holidays, requesting a truss rod wrench for my 1995 Standard Balladeer. They sent me an allen wrench free of charge. I am not sure where I am supposed to use the allen wrench at. I can see a nut inside the case that looks like it might adjust the truss rod, but I can not find a place to use the allen wrench.

Did I get the wrong wrench from Ovation, or am I looking in the wrong place?

I am really enjoying my Balladeer here on the ship. It has really been nice to have it on this deployment. Great guitar, great sound. :)

i dont have anything that new, but there should be a piece of wood just inside the soundhole (neck side of course) to guide the allen wrench (3/16) to the hex socket of the truss rod adjusting screw. i havent seen the allen keys ovation uses, but with a standard key use the long leg to engage the hex socket. i use a small hollow tube to het leverage on the short leg. adjust with the strings in tune so the neck has tension on it, and tweak it slowly if it's way out of whack. the wood and the screw will balance out their forces over a few days i have found if the neck is really bowed. clockwise facing the screw if it's bowed.

type neck adjustment into search here and see what comes up. good luck----

Go to Ovations web site then click on FAQ (on the left side of the page), then click on DOWNLOAD MANUAL (on right of page). You'll get a generic manual that covers quite a few of their guitars. I suspect that you could use the same procedures for their other stringed instruments.
