I would like to know how many were made. I've never seen another one like it. Anyone know where I can get this information? I'm new to the board and don't know how to post a photo, otherwise I would. bd

I heard that only about 800 were made, but Ihave heard that number kicked around for other models too, so I really don't know. Not very many based on how many I have seen.

I may get it figured out sometime before my hair drops out, perhaps I'll just continue pulling it out! Thanks, bd  Edit: Never mind, the photos appeared..somehow.

Joined: January 2002 Posts: 970 Location: Atlanta,Ga. | I never thought of this guitar as a Deacon or Breadwinner.I always thought of it as "A LIMITED" but if i had to pick between a deacon or a breadwinner,i would say more of a deacon because the finish is a natural mahogany stain finish with the woodgrain visible below. Also it has chrome tuners(like the deacon)rather than the black plastic coated tuners..Again more of a deacon. The only thing it has from a breadwinner is the dot inlays.Just think of it as a deacon with dot inlays... I say we just call it "A LIMITED" ;)

Joined: January 2003 Posts: 63 Location: Virginia | Guys, When I bought it, it was a Deacon "Limited Edition". The deacon, as I have recently found out, was just a deluxe breadwinner. That explains the gold pickups where the breadwinner has chrome, and yes the chrome tuners. Two days ago I didn't even know there was a difference. I logged onto the UK site that was a great source of information. I am so glad I found this site! Everyone here has been extremely helpful. Now, I'd just like to get a fix on value of this guitar, if anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks, BD ;)

Joined: January 2003 Posts: 63 Location: Virginia | ok ok, I can't go on with you guys thinking ovation actually put gold pickups with chrome tuners! I was just going along with the illusion that was created by a bad photo. I must say, I didn't quite see the finish though (it's actually greyburst). I was just a little pissed off because I was lied to when I bought the guitar, and I had just found out. I am the proud owner of a breadwinner after 23 years thinking it was a deacon. Serial# E 17428 in case anyone here can tell me what year it was built from the number. Sorry guys, bd :(

Joined: January 2003 Posts: 63 Location: Virginia | Were it not for this website, I would still be thinking I had a deacon. Thanks Miles and Al. cwk2, I've read some of your posts (and Verdick)...I'm assuming you have (perhaps HAD) something to do with Ovation and Kaman. I think it's great that there are so many of you guys on this board and I appreciate your input. I'm wondering if you have access to reference regarding manufacture date, etc. I simply love this guitar and wish you guys still made them. I've owned a lot of different guitars (I'm not talkin cheapies either) and have never played an electric with a better neck. The action is exceptional all the way to the 24th fret...very fast (much faster than my stubby little fingers), and responsive. I would like to get my hands on a neck like that to build a semi-hollow body with the exact same shape as the breadwinner. If ovation made one I would be the first customer. Thanks again, BD
