Location: new york, ny | Thanks for everyones help so far in my difficult choice on what O to start off with.
I do like the stealth black look of the elite 1778-T. But it has much fewer soundholes than other Os. It does have a mid-bowl so does it produce good sound? Anybody have any thoughts/opinions?

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I initially was not impressed by the look of the Elite T when initially announed at NAMM in the summer, but after playing it, and now seeing/playing the production models, I think it's a great guitar. At the begining I think it just met the goal of a USA Made Ovation at a reasonable price-point. I think now, based on playing a few, and seeing the fit'n finish clean up, I put it in the category of really nice guitar that is also USA Made and affordable. |

Great sound nice "stealth" look, only drawback is you have to like bowl paint. |

Location: NJ | the paint they use to paint the bowl is bowl paint. I see them going no where but up in price since they started out so cheaply.
last 2002 was the first year. |

| Having first run away from this geetar with disgust after having looked at it I must admit I'm the proud owner of one. I wanted something to make me love Ovations and this did it. I'm constantly placing my check up to the back of the bowl to feel the vibrations and my ear to the holes to grab onto the warmth. It really is a great mid-level guitar. For the price/sound I just don't think there's anything that can beat it. |

Location: Tampa, Florida | I have the black 1778T and I love it. My only complaint?annoyance is with the preamp. The battery is going dead in less than a day w/o even being played. This is the best sounding Ovation I have ever played. |

Location: Scotland | Battery problem is almost certainly down to a short on the output jack-socket. Solder in a new Switchcraft stereo socket, which will take less than 10 mins & your problem will be solved, betcha. |

Location: Pittsburgh PA | What is the main difference between the 1778 and the 1778T? On the Ovation web site they picture a black 1778 with an OP40 pick up - but no 1778T. At Musicians Friend, they list the 1778T, but the only finish they say is available is Iron Pewter and the pick up they list is an OP30, which I assume is a step below the OP40.
Does anyone know the scoop?

| If you count the holes on this guitar you will see that it has the same #of holes as all other elites, what it does not have is the eppies over them... |
