Thanks Jeff, that was cool. I almost sorta know Jorma. We've never met, but we have written to each other. His wife's sister-in-law used to live next door to me back in the 90's. When I played one of his songs one day and mentioned that he was one of my early influences, she said, "Oh, I'll have to write to him and let him know." Well, we wound up having quite a correspondence going for a while, exchanged tapes, and he even asked me to come out and teach at his "Fer Piece" camp. Of course I couldn't get a leave of absence from my job and move to Ohio, so it never happened, but it was quite the honor to be asked. Eventually the letters stopped, and although I have seen him in concert several times, I never got backstage to introduce myself.

And HEY!!! Wasn't that GREAT that a BANJO player took first place. I really like that clawhammer style.

Jorma's a great picker and his best stuff came after the Airplane. Somehow that band never showcased his great talents.
