Location: Waterloo, IL | I was up on Frets.com and saw some guitar case covers designed to protect a guitar or mandolin case from the beatings they frequently take while getting banged up on the road. The only place I have seen so far that had any type of case cover was in the back of a magazine. They wanted $150 for an Ovation deep bowl case cover. Here is the URL of an example: http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Musician/Acessories/Cases/WCases/WCover/wcover.html
Does anyone know of a place that would have a case cover at a better price, or just as a comparison?

I have an old big electric blue thing that I am pretty sure was put out by ovation to cover its cases. I have to find that and check it out where could it be?????? |

I personally think beat up cases look good and are a sign of a well traveled guitar. They sell stone washed jeans, mabe we should be able to find pre stoned cases, although that wouldn't be as much fun now would it! |

Location: Scotland | Bill, with fibreglass or plastic cases it's not so much of an issue, but with a traditional plywood hardshell case the cloth, Tolex or whatever covering pretty much holds the whole thing together. If the Tolex wears through, the glue seams in the wood will eventually fail & the case falls apart. A case cover can make a traditional hardshell case last a lot longer, no matter how hard it's travelled. |

Location: Scotland | Check the price of a really good hardshell case these days, and I'm not talking about Ovation molded cases here, as good as they are. A Mark Leaf or Calton case is over $500, a good USA-made wooden hardshell such as Ameritage is at least $350. |

If you wear out your case and replace it with a shiny new one, how do you avoid those snide remarks about the new guy that hasn't been around very long on the road, and maybe somebody can show him a few licks to keep him out of the way of the road warriors with baling wire and duct tape holding together their cases (and their shoes, usually) |
