Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | Hey Paul, thanks for posting one of my favorite guitarist that passed away too soon. I always loved his natural playing ability. The DVD of him and Chet Atkins at the Village Vangard, circa 1980's is mandatory for guitar pickers. |

Location: SoCal | Tommy, I hadn't seen a 1980's video of Jerry and Chet. The only one I know of was from 1992 at The Bottom Line. They were touring to support their recording "Sneakin' Around"..... |

BTW, what in the world kind of guitar is that at about 5:59 (and other places). Looks just like one Jerry played, and I swear it looks like a full-bodied guit that just got a buttock sawed out — which I'm sure is where we got the term 'cutaway.'
Did they really actually once build them like that? |

Location: SoCal | Reed loved Baldwin guitars. He had really nice guitars built for him and he always came back to Baldwins. In the mid 70's he had somebody cut out that part of one of his Baldwins for a cutaway. His old guitar player, Paul Yandell (who, after playing with Jerry, played for Chet Atkins for 25 years) has the Baldwin with that cutaway.
But somebody else, in the last 10 years, built some duplicates of that guitar. Can't remember who.... |
