I'm still marveling at this UKII I got a few days ago, the overall quality is amazing and I love the feel of the neck.
I've never played any other O solidbodies, can someone please give me some insights as to how the other model necks compare? Are they anyways close, totally similar, totally different, etc?
Thanks in advance. |

I can't make a comparison as I've never played a UKII, but I like the maple neck on my Viper solid body.

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | i own viper, gs, breadwinner, brownbird and ukII guitars, and the ukII and brownbird are my favorite necks. wide and thin. for what i play which includes lots of bends, hammer ons and pull offs the ukII is what i play for most of my gigs. at home i keep mixing it up. you wont be sorry you got that ukII. |

Location: Virginia | The only solid body I have is a limited, the neck is not as wide as the UKII I don't beleive, but then that's what I like for my stubby digits. Ovation guitars as a whole have the nicest necks of any brand I've played. I've never played a guitar that had the same feel as my limited, it's almost like it was custom made for me.

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | bd, i couldn't agree more. the ukII neck makes all others feel fat and clumbsy to me. i recently bought a new amp for gigging and while i was eyeing the multitude of amps at gc a salesman told me to grab anything off the wall to try them out. i grabbed a les paul something or other that was in the $4k range and it didn't hold a candle to the feel or the craftsmanship of the ukIIs i own. the next best neck, is my brownbird 12 string. bill, if you are tuned in, what kind neck is on the brownbird? |

I think that all the solid body 12's got the same neck. And while I haven't measured it out at the nut, the neck on my Viper Deluxe (former Preacher Deluxe neck), feels wider than the original neck on it. Certainly feels wider than the neck on my Thead. |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | paul, i think bill said something about the brownbird neck in an email once, but my memory seems to be in that negative geometric progression post 50 decline. i'm sure glad i have allot of bad habits to blame it on.
i also have one of the last of the ukIIs when they were being built in r&d. it has dot inlays and chrome hardware. i like the thin wide necks. lots of room to bend and maneuver. the two vipers i have remind me of a telecaster neck. maybe i can see your viper project this july when im la again.
did you get my email this time amigo?? |

Location: Scotland | I may be wrong about this, but I seem to remember that the neck profile on the UK11 is slightly asymetrical. I.E. it has a little more bulk on the bass side than the treble side. If that's the case I can't see it on my own UK11, but either way the necks are very slick |
