I currently have an ovation cc057 and am considering upgrading. And I was wondering if any of the ovation acoustic/electrics have adjustable necks (I don't mean a truss rod adjustment, but also a pitch adjustment like my telecaster), and barring that which, if any, have the greatest pitch, like a Gibson, so that 10 years down the road there's simple saddle adjustment to keep the action low. Any thoughts on any models would be appreciated.

The neck pitch is not "user adjustable" on any of the acoustic or A/E models to my knowledge. But it can certainly be done by a good fatory authorized service guy. And there seems to be plenty of saddle adjustment available. But I'm not sure why you are concerned about this. I have several Ovation more than 30 years old and the neck set has never been adjusted on any of them. The way they came from the factory is the way they still play. Everyone talks about the roundbacks and all that, but fact is that the NECK is maybe the best part of the whole Ovation package, at least the 5 piece maple ones. Sorry if you've had trouble in the past with Gibsongs or Benders, but I would not worry about an Ovation neck. Dave

The neck pitch on the imports tends to be pretty shallow. The USA guitars generally have a more acute neck pitch, which means as they age the saddle/pickup assembly can be adjusted lower while retaining a useable break angle. The only Ovations with an easily adjustable neck pitch are the Storms & solidbodies.

Ovations are good guitars, as someone said, mine is 30 some years old and works fine. a well made guitar doesn't need any esoteric adjustments. The only thing that might happen in fret wear, and that might cost small money.

Thanks for the feedback re pitch. I know my celebrity will keep on trucking, I just have an itch for something new, I'm leaning towards one of the nylon stringed.
It's all relative I suppose.
Thanks again.

Speaking of necks, I have a custom electric balladeer,a '78, which may stand one more fret-dressing, but then it's major work because the next has gradually twisted judging from the view from the bridge; this is one of the older models with the truss-rod adjustment in the headstock, so there is a natural pitch-down where the neck was joined to the body and that is where the twist is occuring. I am hoping to be able to remove all the frets and enlays and have the fretboard sanded level, I am just not sure how much surface I will have to work with, or the cost-effective aspect. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? Thanks, steve
