Used to have a 1981 accoustic Custom Legend 12 string (drk sunburst). Loved the guitar but unfortunately haven't found one in either the right condition or price. Last eBay listing wanted $1,200 starting bid. Currently have two 1619's - both drk sunburst (1979 and 1982).

If I can't get an older Custom Legend, I want to find an equivalent neck - just loved the playability of the CL's neck, almost like a 6 string.

Have seen some nice looking Elite 12 strings on eBay. Has anyone played both? They are the same nut width, but are the necks equivalent in playability? If I play a 1619 6 string for awhile and then go to my Takamine 12 string - it feels like I'm playing a classical neck.

If I have to, will wait one or two years until I can find a 1981-1982 Custom Legend.

Thanks,

Tony:

The necks on the older Elite 12's are pretty much the same as the neck on the older C.L. 12's. But you ought to wait for the guitar you really want. It will come along.

True, and will give it a little time; from what I understand, not a lot of the drk sunburst produced, yet brings out the abolone & ivory so well. Someone once told me that there were less than 500 made, some slotted head and some regular.
