I know little to nothing at all about solidbodies (Its all I can do to even remember how to spell "Akoustic") So maybe Miles or Al or some of youse other guys knows what kind of bass it is!!
Is it rare or just a plain-ole '70's Ovation bass?

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | It's a late version Magnum III. The earlier ones had wood finishes, the later added that funny grey-burst. It looks stock, and in good condition. Very under-rated bass.
Just FYI..
The Magnum I and II were the early stretched Breadwinner body style, and the III and IV were more traditional like the one above.
The Magnum I and III had knobs for tone and vol, the II and IV have active electronics with a 3-slider EQ's for tone.
THe Magnum I was stereo. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Mike, I have a Magnum III and can tell you that this is a very HEAVY bass. If you bid on this one, make sure you have strong shoulders. Dave |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | It's not particularly collectable, it's just a great bass. It is heavy as all the magnums were, but they play great. The strongest points, as it should be, is the tone and sustain. You can really to a wide range of bass work from rumbling de-tuned thunder, to high-end chest pounding slapping.
I think at some point in Ovation's history, guitars of certain colors were shipped to certain area's. The Limited is not the first example... as example.. Al has seen several of them, and only in greyburst. I have several, and never saw a greyburst one, only wood finishes. |
