"Hi Sis" I said as she walked by.
She smiled and said Hi and then asked "how you doing?"
"Good set" I said
she stopped dead in her tracks.
"HI AL!!" she said "nice to finally meet you"
And that is how I met Kaki King tonight at the Northstar bar in Philadelphia.
A couple of friends wanted to see Charlie Hunter and called me and I figured what they heck so I grabbed Sue and we made it up to the Northstar. It is only about 15 minutes from our house if there is no traffic.

Kaki is a great guitarist. I have no clue how she does what she does but I give up. I can't do that no matter how I try. I know she tuned to dropped D at one point but I think that she uses several alternative tunings. It is just awesome to watch her fingers.

Yes Kaki played an Adamas, a reverse blue burst cutaway textured top (which she used as a washboard in one tune) and probably an optima preamp. She did have another acoustic that she picked up for a couple of songs probably a L*wd*n. I didn't ask her about it.

Kaki is really nice we spoke for a few minutes after her set and after charlie hunter's first set. I had to leave before charlie's second set because I have to take my mom in for surgery 6 am tomorrow morning. CHarlie is another one to check out he is an awesome player.

so remember the OFC spies are everywhere!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for asking Mom is well, she is resting comfortably and tylenol III helps the pain go away. Although I tried no one at the hospitol would pull the plug on her this time!.

If Kaki comes to your town take the opportunity to see her play. Her style although not unique or exclusive only to her, is awesome and it amazes me to watch her play. If you get the opportunity to say a few word to her I suggest that you do, she is very warm and friendly.

I just wanted to point out that we all love our Ovations and Adamas guitars here but most of us have admitted to owning another brand or playing other brand guitars that we like. It is not a crime to love all the flavors of ice cream.

And, Baskin-Robbins sells frozen yogurt, too! Oh, how I love a good conundrum. I will now go treat my dictionary breath, again.
