Hi,
I've been doing alot of searching on the internet about the BW I just picked up a few weeks ago. Here's all the details on the guitar that may help in getting more info about it:
1. Serial # E 2174.
2. Tan finish with red tortoise shell type pickguard and truss rod cover.
3. Stamped metal back plates (with Ovation Logo and "New Hartford, Conn. Made In USA" on them). 4. Nylon nut and bridge saddles. Input jack on top.
5. Active electronics with mini-humbuckers (12 holes on each).
6. Ebony fretboard.
7. All chrome Shaller tuners with the peace sign on the back of them.
8. No modification done and with original case. 9. It seems that it is in good+ or very good- condition.

I'm really curious to know what year this guitar was made? How many of this version were made? What the value/collectability of this guitar would be now? And I'd really like to know any other information and/or trivia regarding this guitar that you (or anyone else) would have.
I really like this site and I love reading all the info people have about the guitars talked about here - even guitars I've never heard of before.
I don't have many guitars, so this Breadwinner is a keeper. Even though the neck needs some adjustment, it still feels better than the neck on my '75 Strat. Very cool!

Thanks,
JJ

The Nylon saddles are some of the earliest production but not the first, those would have the jack on the side of the body. Also the first ones had smooth plates. I would put this in the 2nd or 3rd year of production. It colour was called Buckskin and I think it's the best of the 4 offered although the blue is the rarest. Sinec it has the mini HB it is the second generation pickups, the first were big single coils. The HB have a more balanced output.
It's a great guitar and was well ahead of it's time.

The only guitars that I know of that had peace signs on the tuners are Electras.

Hey, you're right. They are Electra tuners. That's a bummer..... Does anyone have some Ovation/Breadwinner Shaller tuners that they would sell?

Thanks,
JJ

I've got tuners from my old Viper neck. They are Ovation tuners, chrome w/ the black plastic housings. Let me know if you are interested.

Yes, I am interested in those tuners. I may not be able to buy them right away, but eventually for sure. How much would you want for them?
You can e-mail me at my hotmail account if it's not cool to post that here.

Thanks,
JJ
