I found a great deal on a 1983 Colector's Edition online, but the seller (not an Ovation nut, I guess) isn't sure which body depth it is. This is a big deal to me, since I mainly play unplugged. Pics look like mid-depth. Is that right, and how do these (gorgeous) guitars sound unplugged? Thanks for your wisdom!

Nancy Wilson of Heart, wanted an instrument that would reject low frequency feedback and that would be more comfortable to play in a high-engery rock and roll show.......The guitar itself is a Legend with our exclusive active preamp,Kaman bar neck and unique Barnboard finish......2,754 instruments were made during the model's production run in '83. . . . . . . . Quoted from "A brief History of the Collectors' series"......Hope it helps!! Mike

It projects rather well for a shallow bowl guitar. They are a beautiful model,I know some will disagree. It has abalone inlays like the custom legend.Except for the binding is ivory. Good luck,F.Bailey

BTW, this seller is letting his near-mint 83 Collectors Series go for 450 bucks! Shoot me an e-mail if you want me to hook you up with him... treefrog@velocity.net

Don't mean to change the subject, but it is a riveting story. especially for us who had spent time there, I went to Gannon for a couple of years, leaving me well versed in Catholic philosophy. I will again repeat the story of my Russian Language teacher at Gannon, a Catholic Priest from Hungary who was impressed into the Russian Army. He hated the Russians but was fluent in their language. He got me in trouble by using my address to play a lottery, (with my permission). I got a letter from the US Postal service , reminding me that playing foreign lotteries was illegal. I thought he was just writing to his long lost family. He believed that a woman could get pregnant by bathing in water that had been ejaculated in by a family member when baths had to be shared, he lectured us on that type of sin. Paul T. would have LOVED his class. (This should bring on a flame from the Isles. Bailey Great post with some good info

I used to do news here in Erie, and I don't envy the folks covering the story--not only is it gruesome, but reporters have to put in lots of extra hours to cover such a story well. As for that priest--I went to Gannon University's crosstown rival Mercyhurst College, but one of my co-workers (who did attend Gannon) knew the priest you're talking about and said he was a confirmed lunatic! I'm always amazed at the Erie connections people can make!
