Location: SoCal | Recently got a yr 2000 CL 12 9759 (has the XLR jack) - reviewing Ovation site (electronics) shows that the current production is the OP50, yet the picture is different than panel on this one...mine is black, rectangular and there is a separate battery release/compartment on the left of the panel. Question: is this the OP50, with same operating characteristics? Or, if not, any idea where I can get the specs? Thanks. |

Ovation "updated" the electronics this past year.
The only difference I can recall on my 2 Custom Legends (one purchased this year), is that the OP50 has a "mid shift" button, which the older one doesn't have. I think everything else is the same, less the style and battery removal proceedure.
Personally, I like this added feature.
One of the more technically knowledgeable guys could probably give you better specs.

Location: SoCal | Thanks...probably shouldn't have said "specs" as I don't need a schematic to re-wire. Just general curiosity. Yes, also like the battery compartment separate. And, a heck of a lot better than my older ones where you have to loosen the strings to get to the battery. Heck, my prior CL 12 was accoustic so this is like waking up in the next century (actually, guess this is the next century.) |

Location: Scotland | Tony, you have an Optima pre. Very similar to the current Op50 apart from the pre-shape function |

| Tony,
If you haven't already done so, you can find information on your pre-amp under the category "Electronics" on the Ovation website (www.ovationguitars.com). It has diagrams, as well as techical specifications. |

Location: SoCal | Thanks, now I'm a happy camper. Without Paul T. telling me it was an Optima as I was looking at the OP's on the site.
Appreciate the help. |
