Location: Reno, NV		Right now Im running a 7/64" action height. I would prefer to go to a 6/64" as it seems just a bit high. I have 2 factory shims under my saddle at this point which gives me the 7/64". Removing a shim would get me real close to 6/64".

But, here is the problem. Im running out of clearance (to stay within specs) from the strings to the top of the bridge. If all shims were removed the strings would be almost sitting on top of the bridge. This normally would give the impression that I need a neck reset, but If I run a straight edge down the neck it just barely touches the top of the bridge, the straight edge doesn't clear the bridge by about 1/64" interference, which would seem like the neck doesn't need a reset, (FYI, Neck relief is set perfectly.) Especially since this is only a two year old guitar and I have taken every precaution possible to humidify and care for it. I have read several articles about proper neck angle and most say that some manufacturers don't have a clearance and not to be alarmed if it's very close to clearing the top of the bridge, as mine is. I have read a few articles here on OFC about some Ovations having a bridge that is made too thick form the factory and that may be the problem, not the neck angle.

I have taken a few pics of my bridge. Could some OFC'er please measure their bridge thickness as I have in the pics and let me know if their bridge is different? My Ovation is a 1771LX. Or you might be a able to spot right away if this is a problem bridge from the pics? ..please let me know.

Also, I have about 1/8" belly buldge. Im not sure if this is normal. However, I don't think Im over humidified, as Nevada is very dry and usually we have to humidify the air, not de-humidify.

I'd like to start with one problem first and go from there, starting with the bridge thickness and then address the buldge if needed. Is 1/8" buldge normal?

Perhaps its a combination of the two issues?

Location: Utah		Both my bridges measure out as .370 inches thick at the center between the 3rd and 4th strings, on the sound hole side. That converts to .9398 millimeters, pretty much exactly the same as yours. The saddle sits a little deeper in the 6778LX than your picture. In the 2007BCS the saddle sits pretty much like yours and it could use a half-thickness shim removed.

Bottom line, your bridge looks ok in comparison to mine. As long as the strings aren't buzzing on the wood of the bridge, I'm not going to worry.

Location: Utah		As far as belly bulge, I have no idea how to measure that. It is apparent on both of my guitars. It is completely normal to have a visible bulge in an LX guitar.

We run a humidifier in the guitar room set to 50%. I doubt that you can overhumidify in Nevada, but if you don't do anything at all you will certainly be too dry.

Location: Boise, Idaho		Mine all measured about the same, just under a millimeter (I'm not as precise as Flysig). That allows me to take out all the shims if I like. All the bridges are tapered toward the high e string, so that it allows clearance with the lower saddle, except the 30thCL. That one buzzes on top of the bridge and the saddle sits much lower than yours does in your pictures. I'll have to mess with it some more when I change strings soon.
