hi at all,

I have a Pinnacle D 3862 for several years.
The sticker says it is made in Germany? so the Ovation page says, that the Pinnacle 3862 is always made in Japan.
it has a SSB and a spruce top natural colored, the SN is 431754.
Has Ovation ever manufactured in Germany? So, what's right?

Thanks

Henning

For a while some were made in Germany by Joe Marinic at the Shadow factory. The thought was that eventually this factory would be for the European market. The elements of the world conspired against us and it didn't come to be. I don't recall how many were made there, maybe a few hundred. The D stands for Deutchland.

CWK,

I personally thank you for that very illuminating factoid. Ovations being made in Germany is something I have never heard of, and I thought I had heard most of it. There are a lot of gaps and holes in Carter's book, aren't there?

Not too many, the book is pretty complete. It doesn't delve into every little detail that all of us guitar homos want, but then if it did it would be 1600 pages long.

CWK,

I likely overstated my observation of gaps and holes, but they are there. There is no mention of the Pinnacle model and the Thunderbolt gets no more than a picture. But the overall story is well told -- and great pictures of you abound, to be sure. :D
