Location: Lombard, IL | Howdy! I'm new here (first post, actually), and a casual player, but want to get more proficient. My wife also plays, and over the last twelve months she has developed "Taylor-mania", aquiring both 6 and 12 string Taylors.
My own desire to once again pick up the git and play was piqued, however, as an "other-handed" person, my choices in instruments is severely limited. I'd wanted to get an actual lefty acoustic (I have an old, cheap Yamaha strung upside down), and spotted a LH Fender DG-10 for $169 at the local Guitar Center (the only lefty in the room, as it were, too). I took her there to look at it, and she was, naturally , un-impressed...
We asked the salesman if they had any other LH acoustics, he went and checked, and sure enough there was ONE other- an Ovation in the 470$ dollar range, a special-order that'd not been picked up. Did we want to look at it? "No", says I (thought it was too much for my casual abilities), "Sure!" says she...
To make a short story long, I fell in love with the sound AND the look of my newly aquired LCC047H (though she did convince me to swap out the factory .12 D'addarios for some .11 Elixirs the very next day), and the deal was done.
The question is this- why does the model NOT appear on the Ovation website? They do list the CC057 on the Ovation site, and I can find other web references to the CC047 dating back to 2001 or so- and yet at www.adirondackguitars.com (they specialize in LH guitars) they tout the LCC047 as being "New for 2004!".
Any info is appreciated! And sorry to ramble... |

I think you provided the answer yourself....the phrase "special order". Ovation will make things not in the catalog on special order. Although it is news to me that you can special order non-U.S. made guitars.
It might just be a "special order" because they didn't carry it and someone had them order it. In which case, it is probably just a 2004 like you said.
Too bad about your wife and her "Taylor-mania". :( Welcome to the board.
