Sorry, new to Ovation and this forum. Wondering which strings owners recommend for my now two month old axe.

BTW, this guitar has impressed me a great deal and made me a believer in the Big O. I also own a Larrivee and a Martin, and I'm finding myself playing the Ovation more than those two guitars combined.

I don't know if I should tell everyone else to help keep the demand about where it is, so next year Ovation will also sell their excess inventory as "re-furbished". For $799, this guitar has no equal.

Regards,
Mark

A simple search will reveal several threads discussing strings. You will find that there is no unanimity on string choice on this board, as that is really a matter of personal taste. I, for one, like D'Addario. The coated ones like the factory now uses lose a bit of snap up front but they sure last a long time.

AT the tour last week (LOVED IT -- RECOMMEND GOING NEXT YEAR) Ovation recommends Adamas 1818s, but the ship them with D'Ad Elixirs because guitar shops don't change their strings.

I've settled on Martin Phosphor Bronze light gauge. This is for my Legend.

I was in need of some emergency strings, so I have two sets of D'Addario Phosphor Bronze to try out. May switch to those.

I use Phosphor Bronze Mediums on my 2001 and Balladeer S771..... I get them from www.webstrings.com very inexpensive (less than $3.50 per set) and if you order a certain amount they FedEx for free! :D

They are inexpensive enough to be able to change strings every month (more often if I play more) and not break the bank!

I have found them (IMHO) to be good quality strings, and certainly the equivalent to the "Brand" names selling for more than $10.00 or more!
