| Im waiting on my w597 and I want to get an xlr cable but Im not sure what I need. I have regular Mic cables but I understand that I will need something different. Can any one help me to order the right thing?

Location: Phoenix AZ | Wouldn't it more sense to modify the jack on the guitar so you could use any XLR cable? I'm not an electronics tech, so if this is a totally stupid question, just say so. Dave

Location: Florida | The problem is how to tell the preamp that it needs to be "on".
You can use a special or modified XLR cable, or you can stick an plain old 1/4 inch plug in its jack, and that will turn on the preamp. Either one works. There is no phantom power option as far as I can tell. |

Location: Warren, OH | Charlie - the Optima, OP-50, and OP-Pro (XLR version only) all support phantom power through the XLR connection, per the manuals on Ovation's website. |
