I hope the buyer appreciate the larceny he has just perpetrated! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3715499577&category=33029&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT&rd=1 The laws of basic commerce hold, I guess.....what the market will bear. Thanks, may I play through?

I used to search on E-Bay for "Ovation, Guitar"... Believe it or not that left out some results that just gave the discription as.. "Ovation, Acoustic/Electric"... Now I search under, "Ovation" in the musical instruments catagory... I find quite a few guitars that aren't listed as guitars...They're just listed as Ovation... Balladeer....Elite... Ect...Ect... This e-bay tip brought to you by... Gerald By the way... I just bought a little 1611 with case for $200 (and I was the only bidder)... The guitar was listed as "Ovation Model 1611 Acoustic/Electric".. the world guitar wasn't in the title... Some people don't list the guitars right and that's really where I look for bargains... Stupidity comes at a cost... to them..

The seller really didn't give any real details about the condition of the guitar. What is "very good condition"??? Is the neck warped? Is the bowl cracked? Are the frets worn? Don't see any cracks in the top, but do you really know? A 12-string is prone to those from the added string tension. Unless you e-mailed the seller, you don't have a clue, do you? And then he might say "everything's OK" when it really ISN'T because he doesn't know any better. A guitar on eBay will only bring the amount of money that a bidder is comfortable risking on the description and picture(s) that is given, plus the level of trust that you have in the seller. He could refuse to sell and take a negative feedback, but it would have been so easy to avoid. What was the seller's feedback number? Might have a part to play in how low it went. Joined: July 2003 Posts: 1922 Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | bobfrith, all good reasons. Although, if I were the seller, I think I would not list the ENTIRE serial number, maybe the first three digits to allow assurance of the year. I myself decided to not list anything for this weekend for that very reason, too many people out of town and otherwise busy. Joined: February 2004 Posts: 171 Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma | I agree with all the reasons written above... I will take chances on USA made Ovations that I can pick up for $200 and under if the discription is good and they answer a couple of questions via e-mail... I figure it ain't gonna cost much to find out... ... I know I can pay $805 and get a great sounding LX... But I love the hunt for different guitars where people never realized what they had... The regulars on this board know the "general" dollar value of O guitars.. Not withstanding the "personal" or sentimental value.. I know I've had success and failure on e-bay buying musical instruments but, overall I've gotten great instruments at great prices... Best to ya! Gerald
