hello everyone
im new here this is my first post and my questions are :

1.i want to buy a cs257 but there is no store around where i can check one like this ive checked an elite special s778 and for me it was great.it sounded great and was a pleasure to play.what im looking for in an acoustic is one that will be as easy to play as my electric guitar(epihphone lespaul standard),(especially bends i play a lot of blues and rock)now the s778 was like that, really easy to bend the chords and get a tone over.but the price is a little bit high for me and i know also why (its an american mid deep bowl).
is the cs257 is as easy to play as the s778,easy to bend as an electric?

2. my 2nd question is:i saw that music123 are selling a collector 2003 for 700$ WTF ??im quite sure that this is a great guitar and that is certainly answering my first question, but they write thats its refurbished/what do they mean by that?

If you want your guitar to play with ease, the set up is every bit as important as the model you buy. In the long run you will be happier with a guitar with a better neck, too.

As to the refurbished 2003 Collectors', do a search of other threads and you will find many comments.

My opinion is that $700 is a fantastic deal for one.

Bix, I can't really speak to the "bending" issue, but I would not judge the playability, tone, and feel of the cs257 by sampling the s778. You are correct to note the differences between the American mid-bowl and the Korean made shallow. You may end up loving the cs257, but you wouldn't know it by playing the s778. I run across cs257s (I'm not a fan) all the time in stores so I'm surprised they are hard to find. Sounds like you may be playing a lot plugged in so maybe someone with more experience with that model may chime in. For me, the cs257 is about $500, maybe a little more? You can get an American made one for $200 more? IMO, it's worth the money (of course, that's if you have that extra $200!).

Run a search on the collector 2003, and you will find there is a long story on that issue! Good luck!

Oh no, not this again... Easy boys, EASY...
I'm sure someone will slap this tar baby, it's still early (just not me) :D

I think light strings similar to what you use on the elec will give you what you want on most O's. I agree the setup is key as well.

There are a couple of Celebrity models like the Tangent, the MOB and several supershallow bowled Specials that advertise they play like an electric. For me there is too much compromise and the difference in USA Ovation neck feel isn't that broad.

The 2003 Collector - Refurb or not - is a really good guitar. No regrets in picking it up. Could be many regrets if you settle for less. There are many good "used" deals on several models.

If your first guitar will be the Tagement you will have heartburn forever. If it's My Other aBortion, you'll have 40 years of bad luck.

on another note... don't hold back, bill... what do you really think of the MOB or the tangent?

As For Bill's Comments. I'd Say he's made everything clear. Then Again, Who Could Blame him?
He hasn't been in a very good mood since he recieved an MOB as A Gift. Last I heard he Was Using it as a Flower Planter! :D

This being an election year, I reserve the right to flip-Flop on previous aliterations. In fact, I wish to defend the MOB!

I much prefer the MOB over the Fender Strato-coustic or it's cuz'n the Tele-coustic. As far as an entry-level instrument it is a good place to learn to appreciate what an O can do for for you.
