I have been noticing lately a large amount of older nice Ovations without electronics on ebay. Seems alot of Ovations were purchased new without electronics. Does anyone know around the first year more Ovations were made with electronics than without? Seems strange now the thought of an Ovation being made without electronics, but quite a few were made with no pickup.

The first O that got me hooked, a 1112, never held me back through the late 70's and 80's. I usually had a Lawrence stuck in the sound hole if amplified. Mostly friend's weddings - were done without a mic or PA. What I lacked in tone I made up for with volume. The Balladeer spoke for itself.

Would it be correct to call the pre-electrics "Vintage"?
