Location: SoCal | I know this sounds kind of silly, but a couple of days ago in the GC in Hollywood, I found a used Deacon for sale (asking $1200 -- good luck with that). Oddly, I realized that I had never even held one before. So I sat down and played for a little bit (unplugged). It's a remarkably comfortable guitar to play. I'm almost envious of you that have one. |

Offer them much less in cash and threaten them with an unwelcome investigation, maybe sexual harrassment, divorce, or even worse, sound pollution. If anybody younger than 16 has ever been in the store, threaten them with corruption of a minor if they have ever showed a Brittany video.

Location: Georgia USA | Yeah. Offer $700 cash if it's in great condition. If they refuse, they'll be stuck with it for a while, and you can buy the next one on ebay, but you NEED a Deacon. On that we must agree.

Location: Georgia USA | And while we're talking about Deacons and Breadwinners, have you seen the Viper on ebay now with the light (maple?) fretboard? Would that neck work on a Breadwinner body? Think how good a maple neck and fretboard would look on a black or white Breadwinner body.
Are the light fretboards common for Vipers? |

Aside from the weight, the thing that stands out to me is the neck. It seems to be a mile long.

The maple necks are longer scale 25.5 vs. 24.75.
But they work fine on a Deacon body. I've got one with a maple long-scale neck and viper pick-ups. |

Is that the neck that one of our members took off a perfectly good Viper and replaced with a short scale neck. I can't recall the name of the perpertrator, but last I heard, he was eyeing a Deacon with who knows what kind of salacious intent. |

I got it from Samova, so I don't know the origin of the neck or pickups.
BTW it has passive electronics.

Location: Georgia USA | NOW THAT'S WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. I've seen the picture before, of course, since I now own the black Deacon Deluxe fourth from the left, but I didn't remember seeing the maple necked job. I think it's sweet; I much prefer maple in general (particularly on Fenders).
I think the all maple Vipers look great, and apparently they aren't expensive?

Nice looking guitar,as a Viper owner, and sufferer of GAS for that Breadwinner type guitar, I have to express envy of both of you, you and Samova, for displaying such a salacious photo. It has the same effect as the Olson twins putting on a strip show for our troops in the furthest boondocks.
