Hi- I have a model 1627 shallowbowl and I was wondering what the largest guage strings are recommended for this guitar (without risking damage!). Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the OFC John. I'm not really qualified to say for sure, but I don't think *anyone* makes a stronger guitar than Ovation, so my educated guess is your 1627 can take the stoutest strings you can find on the rack. I think you should wait until you hear from somebody that actually knows for sure before you twist on the new cables though :)

Come to think of it, shouldn't a 16XX be a deep bowl? Is it a Celebrity?

It'll take 13-56 at concert pitch without a problem. If you wanted to go any heavier I'd tune down at least a half-step.
