Joined: April 2004 Posts: 9 Location: Iowa | Hi all, first post. I'm in the market for a new acoustic that will see a lot of stage time, and I'm fairly interested in an Ovation, but I'm not quite used to the v neckshape. My friend has an standard elite, probably at least 10 years old, and I was wondering if the neck profile would be the same on his as on a new standard elite LX? Thanks, Pat

I have an Ovation Balladeer, deep bowl, steel string acoustic (only), as well as an Ovation Celebrity acoustic/electric nylon string shallow bowl guitar. Both of the necks feel the same to me. As a matter of fact, every Ovation I’ve played has felt very similar to me. I’m interested in acquiring one of the new LX series. Recently a local store got an Ovation 1778 LX Elite Acoustic-Electric. It, too, felt the same in the neck. That feel is one of the reasons I’ve always been such a big fan of the Ovations. Hopefully a few of the “senior” board members can add to this. You could also eMail the group at info@ovationguitars.com. It may take them a day or two to respond, but they’re happy to help. Hope that helps. Paul V.

But The Gloss Knecks on The LX Guitars I've Played Felt a little Better than My Elite 1858 12 String which has a Satin 3 Piece Kneck. The Gloss made the Kneck Feel Faster. At Least it did for me anyway. Ovation Does make some guitars with some thinner knecks. The Elite-T has Fewer appointments But a Maple Kneck which really feels nice too. It just comes down to your Personal Preference. But When I got My 12 String in August it realyy Didn't take That long for me to adjust to the different Style Kneck. Just a little Something to keep in mind! Again Welcome aboard. and Good Luck in your Quest to find The Ovation That's Just Right For You! What you could do is buy one.. and if you don't really liek it... You could donate it to the poor. (Read ME!) :D

I just listen... & I am typically a Martin guy; but have been involved with ovation since 1969 (own 3). The neck is excellent...always has been in my opinion. Just purchased an elite LX scalloped braced...sound is great. The bowl is mid, and projects. Great stage guitar......I would anticipate/as I have not tried it yet on stage....but it gives a warm feel inside your private room/home unplugged. Good stuff & you can get a USA model below a $ grand. regards Sam

I am postponing my GAS for some Klongnecks (or is that Kbaritones?) to be made in 6 and 12. And I understand, I will be patient!

With the ANS (Anvanced Neck System) style neck the ten.-rod is not as tall and we are able to get that fast feeling of an electric . If your instred in a slimmer feel try the LX also the shape of the 1778-T (this is the shape the LX was copied from !

Joined: April 2004 Posts: 9 Location: Iowa | mmmm...interesting. ovation06057,thanks for the info. I mainly play electrics now, so it sounds like the LX neck profile should fit me well. I actually hit the BIN on that new, black Elite LX that someone had mentioned in the sell/trade for $589. Should be here Wednesday, so I'll find out how much I like it then. I was a bit apprehensive buing it without ever playing one, but I talked to the Ovation dealer that posted the auction, and they said I could try it out for 24 hours, and if I wasn't satisfied, they would give me a full refund (minus shipping). I'll let you all know what I think!
