I don't remember seeing or hearing about the building of Adamas guitars at the factory. Does anyone know where they are made?

They are made at the same factory in New Hartford right alongside their wood-topped brethren.

They pointed it out on the tour, but I think they were up the their ears in LX guitars when we were there. We didn't see the vibormeter this time either, probably for the same reason.

Our "half" of the Tour DID do the vibrometer thing (tho it wasn't being used), but for me it was a "been there/done that", so I just hung out and chatted with the guy tuning and packing up the cellos.

The Adamases are done in a small corner of the factory, and I suspect they just "gear up" for them when the demand dictates. By the time we got there, the "workday" was over and crew had departed.

Miles is right. It seemed that the pre-eminent goal of everyone there was to get as many LX's out the door to fulfill as many backorders as possible.

It would have been interesting to see the vibrometer being used. It's something that's been written about enough in a lot of the Ovation literature. What I found really interesting about it was that it was set up in a corner, behind some shelves. Somehow I always imagined that it would have been a center of research activity.

Did'ya ever stop to think that maybe they don't it and/or it's findings "out in the open"??

Actually, I think that it may be located where it is because it's in a nice, quiet, sturdy, lower-level corner of the building . . . . away from the vibration of machinery, forklifts, etc.

Actually Cliff, now that you mention it, that is the reason it is where it is. I forgot they told us that last year. They needed a corner where there was no traffic, dust, and a stable floor.

Took a photo of it, allthough not in use:

It really looks like something from a 50's sci-fi movie set. Make sure there are no flies around when you get into it!

Wow, somehow I'd gotten the impression, after getting my Adamas, that it must have been made by those a little farther up the spiritual ladder....

While watching the "Fellowship" pass through Rivendhall I thought I saw an Adamas inlay operation in the background. Possibly set aside to reforge Anduril, the "sword that was broken".

Is that what you thought too Charlie B?
