This was on ebay last week also. The auction ended at $960 with the reserve not met. (mcollector) was the high bidder and I was 2nd at $950. Soon after I get a second chance offer to "buy it now" for $950. Apparently mcollector could not come through with the cash or something? Anyway... Very tempted, I reply back with a few questions before punching the big B. I wanted to confirm that it was in fact in mint condition and was not an FRG. No answer back... So no punching the big B... Now it's back up this week and check out who the high bidder is again... What do you all think about this?

Consult a prior posting & discussion on "shill bidding". Unfortunate, but common.

Phil Wong would prescribe Buying from Al as a Treatment for your C.O.B.D.
The funny thing is Al still can't get his prescription filled. Waz up with that??!! :D

Ebay's reserve fees have gotten pretty expensive of late and I guess some people are looking to circumvent them. I've noticed a lot of rare, desirable, collectible, expensive or difficult to shift items start with low opening bids and no reserve which appear to be sold & then re-appear. It's pretty easy for sellers to set-up 2 or 3 ebay accounts and bid against themselves to drive the price up to somewhere near a reserve point without having to pay the ebay reserve fee or just to create a bidding frenzy, and/or ask family/friends to place bids. Ebay frown upon this practice but unless you let them know when you suspect it is happening there is little they can do about it. Either way, check the feedback history, but whatever your complaint ebays attitude is Caveat Emptor

Note that the high bidder as of this posting has one feedback ... and guess from who ... that's right, the seller of this item.

However, that doesn't mean this isn't a good guitar and as advertised. It just means be careful and only pay what it's worth to you.
