On Saturday night on PBS Austin City Limits featured an hour-long concert by the Pat Metheny Group. Although Pat didn't play an Ovation, his trumpeter and pianist did for a couple of songs. Both were center-hole cutaways, one a dark blue and the other (played by Lyle Mays)in a honey (or maybe aged natural finish). The one Mays played was a slot-head. I can't identify the models.

A slothead? Either a folklore or a nylon string.

I saw it and I'm guessing a folklore. I'm hoping that it is like seeing a cockroach, (Al Green in another post), if you see one (an Ovation) there are hundreds or thousands hidden in the woodwork.

No kidding. I saw that on Saturday and thought I should just sell my guitars. Then I went to my lesson today and my instructor asked me if he could play my guitar (don't know what his yank is with that, but I'm flattered)...he went off for almost ten minutes and now I'm positive I should sell everything. Maybe even my keyboards/synths. :(

He's got the fever! It won't go away until he gets his own. It starts with the vibration going through your internal organs and out the other side. It gets worse when you see how totally adjustable the action is and then...

...then you actually figure out that the frets beyond the fifth are usable and quite fun! Then you sign on as member #2751 and wonder if thats a model number yet!

Let him borrow yours for free lessons and buy another one!

You know, I actually went and searched to see if there was an Ovation model wtih *my* OFC member number. Man, that's sick. I couldn't help it, though...the voices told me I had to (wonder if Al has anything for that). :)

Dunno if he'd swap the O for lessons, but, more importantly, I'd rather pay for the lessons than give it up. :D

Unless that 12-string they have on the wall really is a Custom Legend and not a Balladeer...but then I'd have to figure out a way to:

a) hide the 12-string until some later date...which would probably translate as 'after the divorce when she inevitably finds out'

-or-

b) convince my wife that all good 6-strings deserve to live with a 12-string partner

Hrmm, maybe if I learned hypnotism, b) might be a better option. I have to stop going in early for my lessons. :o
