Location: Warren,Pa. | I own an Applause AA-13 (3/4 size, no p/u). I rpl the tuners with minis off an old Baby Taylor, and it's not a bad little travel guitar for the $45 I paid. I did have my hands on a multi-soundhole Trekker in a music store a few years back, and I remember thinking it was too close to the size of a regular guitar to buy as a travel guitar. Is the center-soundhole Trekker any smaller than that? I'm thinking something a bit bigger than my Applause would have a little better sound. John.<>{ |

Location: Upper Left USA | Having an AA12 myself I thought I'd take a look at whats out there:
The AA12, AE12 and the Ovation CS212 Trekker are the 1/2 or 22 1/2" Scale offerings.
The AA13 and AE13 are the 3/4 or 23 5/8" Scale offerings.
I did not find any USA made Ovation data.
I keep my AA12 in a lateral file cabinet here at work. It's therapy for me and punishment for my coworkers. :D |

Location: Fayetteville, NC | I kind of liked the look and feel of the Trekker, but you're right, for a travel guitar it's a little larger than most. Didn't Ovation Make a Bonifide Travel Guitar for a year or two?? Seems like I remember seeing them But they suddenly vanished from site. Maybe they didn't go over that well.Anyone remember those? |

Location: SoCal | The Applause AA10 was the actual travel guitar. It was about the same size as the Martin Backpacker, but had body indents so that it could be held on your lap. The sound is better than the Backpacker as well.
Oddly, like the multi hole Ovations, it sounds MUCH better to anybody listening then to the person playing it.
When it first came out, the top of the headstock had a ridged crown shape. Then later, O went to the traditional Applause shape. I've got one of those that my wife got me for Xmas about 3 years ago. Shortly after that, they seem to have disappeared from the market. They still show up on ebay once in a while.
I've toyed with the idea of putting a pickup in it to see what it would sound like Might be fun. Don't know if it would be $200 worth of fun. |

There is an AA10 on ebay now.Starting bid $70.00. It ends in 5 days.Again I must apologize because I am still not very computer saavy yet.Is the starting bid in the ballpark? What would be the maximum that I should bid for it? Would I do better to just get the trekker package that Cliff showed us?
