Hello all. I am the new and happy owner of a new 1861 Balladeer. Did not come with a truss rod wrench, should it have? The neck has no relief at all. Strings fretted at the first and last fret are laying on the board. Do Ovations need relief? Strings don't really buzz. Is the tool for the Kaman bar just an allen wrench or a special tool? Also, is the "Kaman Bar" just a fancy name for the truss rod or is there something different about it? Thanks all, Joe.

Ovationjoe,
welcome aboard and congrats on your New Arrival.
It's my understanding that all new Ovations come with a Truss rod Wrench. Perhaps since it's New You should Contact Ovation Customer Service and Explain the Problem with Them..They'll probably send you one. The Kaman Bar is a little Different than your Standard truss Rod. It's heavier for one thing. If you read in your Manual it will explain how it works. Others will Most likely Jump in here to welcome you and Explain to you in more detail how the K-Bar Works.
Again Welcome Aboard.

Hey Joe (remember that song?), welcome! Saw you on the "sharp edges" thread,too. I believe you only get a wrench with the TKL case...which you don't get with a Baladeer. Anyway...it's simply an allen wrench. Ovation's is long on one leg to reach inside the multi-soundhole guitars, but you don't need that. Hardware store item...3/16". The neck does need relief. If you stop the string at the 1st and 12th frets, you should be able to slide a business card under the string at the 6th fret. Enjoy your new friend! John <>{
